RE: Audible.co.uk are they really worth listening to?

The first point I wanted to make is are there really enough audio books out there to be worth signing up for. The second is are they a good enough quality.

Well after signing for a trial period initially I was amazed at the variety of audio books there are and how easy it is to simply download and install on your iphone or mp3 player. I have it beside my bed and can quite happily enjoy listening to the superb narrative while my husband watches tv or uses the laptop. But what really impressed me was the price and the kinds of literature available - for the price of a retail audiobook you get to choose from the newest releases, my favourite's include Dan Browns latest - the lost symbol, and for an excellent thriller I bought The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks (gripping) , and all for well under their retail value.

The quality is great and the variety is pretty good even by internet standards. You often find that they have the book you looking for even before the shops do and too often you can't find it in audio format on the high-street. It has saved me a great deal of time having to read to my son who is partially sighted and cant find the books in braille.

Audio books are simple , available and cheaper than buying them as standard books. Nothing beats being told a good story. And its quite therapeutic, a real stress releiver especially since I spend most of my day proof reading from a tablet pc. The lcd takes its toll on the eyes. Nowadays you cant always get everything you want to read without having to download and install it on your kindle and these is not the most easiest way to read. Audio books are like stepping back in time and hearing storys being told to you the traditional way.
